Dear Customer
At the start of 2024 the EU introduced a new policy to tackle carbon emissions called EU Emissions Trading System (ETS). Find out more here https://climate.ec.europa.eu/eu-action/eu-emissions-trading-system-eu-ets_en
The inclusion of the Maritime industry in the scheme is being phased in over three years, as below
- 40% as from 1 January 2024
- 70% as from 1 January 2025
- 100% as from 1 January 2026
1 January 2025 Applicable Surcharge:
2025 the level of ETS will increase from 40% to 70% as outlined above. For transparency we will show the EU ETS as a separate charge on your invoices.
Full Loads (trailers and containers) - it is not possible to provide you with a flat € increase. Your Operations contact will calculate and advise on your Lanes.
Groupage (pallets and LTL) - please add €1.95 per pallet space.
These charges are separate from the current Monthly Fuel Surcharge information. The ETS charge will appear as a separate line on your invoice . The ETS charge will be updated monthly based on the published amounts from the shipping Lines
The trading prices of EUA on the European Energy Exchange has remained stable over the last 12 months and we continue to monitor same.
